Telstra Guardian phone sets require that people provide their name and number before they transfer the call to your phone. This is very helpful for staying safe from scammers, harassers and abusers.
If you get phone calls from an unknown number, google that number to see if they’re a legal phone number or a scammer phone number.
You can find out who called you by dialling 1300 Reverse Australia, if you’re in Australia.
Don’t give out your address, credit card, bank account number, or date of birth to strangers on the phone.
It’s okay to hang up the phone if you feel unsafe and the stranger making the phone call sounds suspicious.
