Bisexual tropes to avoid
Nov. 28th, 2022 11:35 am Bisexual Tropes We’d Like To Yeet Into The Sun - The Geekiary
A well written article on anti bisexual tropes that should be avoided in fiction.
https://thegeekiary.com/bisexual-tropes-yeet-into-sun/70503
Harmful tropes listed and analysed in the article above:
- Bisexuality as a transition tool
- The trope of evil bisexuals
- The Bisexual-baiting, calling bisexual coded characters straight
- Tropes where bisexuals are portrayed as being unable to commit to a serious romantic relationship
- TV and movie actors not realising they're playing bisexual characters, and actors denying that a bisexual character is bisexual.

Cross posting book reviews
Nov. 14th, 2022 12:00 am I'm thinking of cross posting book reviews of my favourite books here! My book reviews are mainly on the Storygraph website. They used to be on Good Reads, but I find Storygraph much easier to use and read.
I'd post reviews on Amazon again like I used to, but I'm having trouble with logging into my Amazon account.
I can still post reviews on Barnes and Noble's websites too, if I've bought a book from there and if I've already finished the book. :)
I'm guessing the United States Barnes and Noble lets you post a book review even if you didn't buy it from them. Because I had a lot of trouble posting a review on the Australian Barnes and Noble website until I actually bought a book there.

How many picture icons do I have?
Nov. 13th, 2022 11:48 pm How many picture icons do I have? Not many, but enough to be happy with them. They're made by other artists, not by me. You can see which artist made which icon if you go to the icon section of my Dream Width profile.
I like them all, including the ones of characters from the Demon's Lexicon series. Those icons are really beautiful. Plus Sin and Mae are cool. :)
I like the Tamora Pierce quotes icons too. They're from her Tortall adventure fantasy books, which are some of the best Middle Grade books I've ever read. The characters are likeable, and they take good care of each other. Plus they have witty banter, and say and do hilarious stuff.

I know most people are posting smart, thoughtful things on Dracula, but my main thoughts right now are: does Jonathan Harker get the paprika recipe or not? Do Jonathan and his friends have to deal with Quincey Junior (Arthur and Lucy's son) being a vampire? And Mina's vampire powers don't return? She just stays human?
The Sim and Wil ship
Nov. 13th, 2022 08:09 pmMy thoughts on the Wil and Sim (non canon) ship/romantic pairing from the Kingkiller Chronicles:
I like it. It's so cool! They hang out as friends, and become best friends. They either help our beloved Kvothe with his shenanigans, or get him out of trouble. Wil and Sim would make a great couple.
They respect each other and have fun. Their banter is cool. What's not to like?

Thoughts on the Sim and Fela ship
Nov. 13th, 2022 08:05 pm They're just so very cute together. They have a healthy and kind love, a quiet love where they take care of each other and have fun. Sim has so much unhappiness and grief in his life, and Fela makes him happy. There. I said it. And he's not the sort of unhealthy dick who places all expectations on his girlfriend to be his therapist, sole emotional support and servant - he treats her like an equal because he thinks women should be allowed to work, study and choose who they marry. He has healthy friendships with Wil and Kvothe.
And Sim makes Fela happy too. Unlike some of the other university students (*cough* Ambrose! *coughs), he doesn't see her as sexy fodder or as being lesser than the wealthy students.

Thoughts on the Devi and Mola ship!
Nov. 13th, 2022 08:02 pm I like it. It's adorable, and they kind of match! Devi has a great sense of humour and fun, and Mola is so serious. Devi would make her laugh and make her happy. Mola would help Devi develop more empathy for people, I think. They'd both rescue Kvothe, Wil and Simmon from trouble and Mola would have fun talking about magic, maths and medicine with Devi. Plus I think they'd look good together.
This entry is scheduled to appear on my blog on 25th February 2019.
Thoughts on the Kingkiller Chronicles’ novels’ female character Devi:
I’m pretty sure the song Get over you describes Devi’s feeling on Ambrose accurately. He really does frustrate her and drive her up the wall, and Ambrose thinks he knows a lot more than women (well, he’s a know it all and exceptionally nasty to people of all genders, but he seems to despise women more than men). Note: this isn’t directed at men I know at work, school, church. If you think that’s untrue, that’s your issue).
I think Devi and Fela would be a sweet couple if Fela wasn’t in a relationship with Sim. Devi is cheeky and deadly to other people, but she’s always sweet towards Fela. Thoughts?

Scheduled entry. KKC. Kvothe and Ambrose.
Jan. 30th, 2019 01:42 pmThis entry is scheduled to appear on 30th January 2019.
KKC theory by me: Kvothe and Ambrose aren’t the same. Kvothe respects women, Ambrose doesn’t. Kvothe would never rape, hit, forcibly grope a woman. Kvothe thinks being rich doesn’t make you smarter, kinder, or more honest than poor people.
Ambrose bashes women, gropes Fela, thinks rich people are intrinsically superior to poor people.
Just wanted to say this as I’ve seen some posts online saying Kvothe is the poor version of Ambrose. :/ I’m not attacking those posts, I’m just disagreeing politely.

I’m planning to post some short and not so short essays on my favourite fictional characters from books, and movie reviews. So, stay tuned. 😊
I’ll also be posting some more recipes on baking chicken, cooking brown rice with nuts and fruit, and making pasta noodles from scratch.
F-list, please feel free to let me know if there are characters, movies, books or cooking recipes you’d like me to post about. 🙂
