Thoughts on the Kingkiller Chronicles’ novels’ female character Devi:

I’m pretty sure the song Get over you describes Devi’s feeling on Ambrose accurately. He really does frustrate her and drive her up the wall, and Ambrose thinks he knows a lot more than women (well, he’s a know it all and exceptionally nasty to people of all genders, but he seems to despise women more than men). Note: this isn’t directed at men I know at work, school, church. If you think that’s untrue, that’s your issue).

I think Devi and Fela would be a sweet couple if Fela wasn’t in a relationship with Sim. Devi is cheeky and deadly to other people, but she’s always sweet towards Fela. Thoughts?

KKC theory by me: Kvothe and Ambrose aren’t the same. Kvothe respects women, Ambrose doesn’t. Kvothe would never rape, hit, forcibly grope a woman. Kvothe thinks being rich doesn’t make you smarter, kinder, or more honest than poor people.

Ambrose bashes women, gropes Fela, thinks rich people are intrinsically superior to poor people.

Just wanted to say this as I’ve seen some posts online saying Kvothe is the poor version of Ambrose. :/ I’m not attacking those posts, I’m just disagreeing politely.

This live journal blog entry is scheduled to appear on this blog on 24th January 2019. I’ll cross post this to my tumblr blog too.

It’s a theory on the character Denna from Patrick Rothfuss’ fantasy fiction novel series The King Killer Chronicles. The first two books The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear are already published. Book 3, Doors of Stone isn’t out yet.

There are side stories too, such as The Slow Regard of Silent Things (about Kvothe’s friend Auri) and the short story The Lightning Tree (about Kvothe’s fae student Bast).

I think Denna is being abused by Master Ash whether she’s being trained in martial arts or not.

I’ve trained in martial arts years ago and martial artists aren’t legally allowed to bash you as part of training until you’re crying or until you black out and lose consciousness.

The Cthaeh tree tells Kvothe that the last thing she thinks about before blacks out from her patron’s beatings is Kvothe.

There’s a domestic violence video online (I’ll look for the video) run by DV therapists that mentions the last thing victims of violence think about before they lose consciousness are their loved ones.
