Hi everyone,

Horses in Nevada are often sold to slaughterhouses. This is horrifying and illegal.

Please urge Nevada not to slaughter their beautiful wild horses. Thank you so much for your support.

Ginger Kathrens, director of the horse advocacy group The Cloud Foundation, explains that it’s not only Davis and it’s not only the BLM, but the entire system that needs to be overhauled.

“They just warehouse more and more horses and create their own crisis. Then, after they run the program into the ground, they have to find ways out of it. It is a whole unnatural ridiculous system run amok. And who pays the ultimate price? Wild horses.”

If you'd like to help protect wild horses from slaughter, the Hidden Valley Wild Horse Protection Fund website keeps activists informed about how they can help and protect wild horses from inhumane treatment.

From DemandProgress.com :

The NDAA amendment legalizes the use of mass propaganda campaigns on American audiences. It has been inserted into the latest defense authorization bill — and that bill just passed the House.

Please click here to demand that the Senate oppose ending the propaganda ban:

http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/ndaa_propaganda/?referring_akid=a6365320.2032911.TY-Zqw&source=auto-taf

The NDAA amendment lifts bans on propaganda that have been around since the 1940s, neutralizing laws put in place to protect the American people from its government’s own “misinformation” campaigns.

“It removes the protection for Americans,” a Pentagon official told Buzzfeed, who broke the story. "There are no checks and balances. No one knows if the information is accurate, partially accurate, or entirely false.”

From the Petition Site:

The fin whale is the second largest animal in the world; only the blue whale is bigger. It is also one of the most endangered whales. Numbers never recovered from the commercial hunting of the 19th and 20th centuries and today there are only about 50,000 left.

One country still kills large numbers of these great whales: Iceland. Last year, the fin whale hunt was called off. This year, the Icelandic government is determined that the brutal slaughter of fin whales will resume.

Thank you so much for your support!

Hello everyone,

A horrifying earthquake has killed many people in Haiti (Action Aid says there's an unconfirmed death toll of around 50,000 people). About 3 million people have had their way of life and homes destroyed by the earthquake (source: Action Aid). This is absolutely heartbreaking and terrible beyond belief. Along with the countless number of people killed, there are many who have badly injured and disabled by this disaster.

You can help donate to various charities to send much needed relief to people in Haiti. Salvation Army has an Appeal for the Haiti Earthquake (where you can donate) here:

Learn more here:

Aussies can donate by ringing 1300 66 66 72

You can also act to save animals injured by the earthquake. Do this by contacting the WSPA on 1300 13 97 22.

I can't express enough in words how much volunteers and donations are seriously needed and appreciated. Thank you so much if you do help. Every bit helps.

Hi there everyone,

From Humane Chain info pack:

Over 4,000,000 sheep were exported live from Australia to the Middle East in 2008. Over 35,000 of these sheep died en route from starvation, stress and disease. Many of the sheep that survive the journey are handled and slaughtered in ways that would be neither legal nor tolerated in Australia.

Here's what you can do to combat the unspeakable treatment of sheep in Australia's live sheep trade:

Meet with your local MP. At the meeting you can ask questions, discuss your concerns and urge your MP to act against live exports. Organising a meeting is easy. Humane Chain can provide you with materials like video footage to take with you. To find out more, click on the link below to get Humane Chain's information pack:

To learn more about cruelties of live sheep export, the huge cost in jobs and money caused by it, and alternatives to this, visit the website at http://www.humanechain.org/?r=23

Raise awareness even more by including a link to the Humane Chain in your emails or on your social networking site. Join in discussions and highlight cruelties of live sheep trade through these Humane Chain social networking groups:
