Urge US to close Guantanamo Bay and to investigate use of torture

Hi everyone,

According to Amnesty International, the US Senate has voted 90 - 6 against a bill on closing Guantanamo. The Obama Administration is stillreluctant to publish memos that authorised the use of torture and hold torturers responsible for their actions. This is a huge blow to human rights and the fight against torture.

This bill would have moved 240 detainees to U.S. prisons. People against the bill claimed that doing this would endanger USA’s security.

However, USA is already detaining many convicted terrorists there. Such terrorists include Zacarias Moussaoui (alleged 20th hijacker of the 9/11 attacks) and Ramzi Yusef, one of the people responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
