Hello everyone,

Ever since the new Iranian President has been elected, there have been many protests in Iran against the election results. Iranian authorities responded to these protests through using brutal violent oppression. Reports show that many people were severely beaten by riot police, and that several have been shot and killed.

More than 100 people are reported to have been arrested, including the brother of former President Mohammad Khatami. Amnesty International is concerned that those imprisoned by Iranian authorities are experiencing torture and ill-treatment.

The Iranian authorities have tried to stop information being sent between both among Iranians and from Iranians to those outside. The authorities are doing this by blocking cell phone communication, text messaging and email.

Please spread the word and sign this petition urging for the 1)violence against protesters in Iran to end and 2) the release of people imprisoned for peacefully expressing their political views:

Thank you.
