Urge for recognition of Armenian Genocide

From ANC website: The Genocide of the Armenians by the Turkish government during World War I represents a major tragedy of the modern age. In this - the first Genocide of the 20th century - almost an entire nation was destroyed. The Armenian people were effectively eliminated from the homeland they had occupied for nearly three thousand years. This annihilation was premeditated and planned to be carried out under the cover of war.
During the Genocide, countless Armenians were sent to concentration camps. Many were driven out from their homes. They were sent on forced marches. Many were rounded up and burnt. The Turkish government ordered the deportation of the Armenian people to "relocation centers" . Many Armenians suffered torture, dehumanisation, rape and pillage during this horrifying ordeal.
The most horrifying thing? The Turkish government is still in denial that the Armenian Genocide ever happened. This is unspeakable. It's plain disgusting, and shameful.
From ANC news: In the lead-up to the 2007 Federal Election, now-Member for Bennelong, the Hon. Maxine McKew pledged to "unequivocally and publically" advocate for Armenian Genocide recognition by the Federal Government of Australia.
Two years since her election, Ms McKew has failed to honour that pledge.
She also welcomed the 'historical commission' proposed in the one-sided Turkey-Armenia Protocols, something which has been protested by Armenians worldwide, as well as in her electorate of Bennelong.
Call on her to honour her pledge. Tell her to urge other MPs to recognise the Armenian Genocide here:
