Reclaim your privacy on Facebook!

http://www.reclaimprivacy.org/

From the website: This website provides an independent and open tool for scanning your Facebook privacy settings.

NOTE: this scanner is not fully compatible with the latest Facebook privacy settings, so please be sure you check your privacy settings manually yourself.

This site is maintained on a volunteer basis, and though we hope to keep it up to date, there often isn't enough spare time to do so.
Follow the easy prompts to reclaim your privacy on Facebook! If you have any problems, contact these guys and gals here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Reclaim-Privacy/121897834504447?v=app_4949752878&sk=app_4949752878#!/pages/Reclaim-Privacy/121897834504447?v=wall

You're welcome, nemesister. :) I definitely agree that people need to be very careful using Facebook. I don't use it as much as I did in the past, and I've already used this scanner to fix my Facebook account. It's best not to use apps on Facebook, as they can lead to your private details being shown to people who you don't want to see it.

Facebook is a good way to keep in touch with people overseas and rsvp/learn about upcoming events. If you *do* use it, it's best to make your account private (with details only being shown to very close family and friends).

You're probably best off sticking livejournal, which I think protects privacy much better.

I would much prefer lj, but it doesn't help. People I know have fb, either I participate or not, I can't pull the entire network over here, alas. So more uncomfortably participating for now.

I'm careful with the privacy settings and apps, but fb still claims the copyright to everything you upload, so it's just icky all around.
